a lovely way to end the year

We had a great time at our last trip of 2023, ending in style with a sold-out show in Wickenburg, Arizona. Check out the Gallery page for photographic evidence!

We’re already looking forward to being back in the southwest when we return to Tucson in January for 7 shows. Check our schedule page for the latest tour information. See you soon, and happy trails until then!

Dusty Rogers Rides into Retirement!

After nearly a lifetime of entertaining, Roy “Dusty” Rogers, Jr., has decided to step off the stage and—at long last—into retirement. “I’ve been in show business practically since I was born,” says Dusty, who as the son of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, grew up in one of America’s most treasured show-business families.

Now, at age 76, Dusty will finally get to travel with Linda, his wife of 55 years. “In all those years, we’ve never had an extended vacation,” he says. The two will also enjoy time with their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids and finish building a new home in southwest Missouri.

Dusty joined the Sons of the Pioneers in early 2018 when good friend Tommy Nallie, the group’s trail boss, extended the invitation. For Dusty, whose famous dad had helped found the Pioneers in 1934, the opportunity was too good to resist. Now, five years later, as Dusty retires, his stint with the Pioneers turns out to be longer than that of his dad, who had to leave the Pioneers when he landed his first major movie deal with Republic Pictures in 1937.

Dusty says his love of the music kept him performing so long, but he says he’ll miss the fans the most. “That’s the whole reason to do a show,” says Dusty, who has always been thronged by fans who wanted to share stories with him after every Sons of the Pioneers performancer.

Fans will no doubt miss seeing Dusty on stage next year, but the Sons of the Pioneers will not miss a beat, says Tommy, whose own history with the group began almost 40 years ago. “Over the years, the Pioneers have lost a lot of great musicians—Bob Nolan, Tim Spencer, Ken Curtis, Lloyd Perryman, Dale Warren, and Roy Senior—but the group has always kept the music going strong,” he says. “That’s just what we’re gonna do. With the talent we’ve got in the group now, the music’s in very good hands.”

Please join us as we doff our hats in appreciation and deep gratitude to our good pal Dusty. Happy Trails, partner!
